1st Multiple Sclerosis Update in the UAE

Abu Dhabi, 18th May 2013,

The Emirati Medical Association (EMA) held on the 18th of May the first Multiple Sclerosis Update for the UAE in its capital city Abu Dhabi.

Multiple Sclerosis is estimated to affect over two million people worldwide. It is one of the most dynamic specialties in healthcare. There have been substantial changes in MS over the last year with several new regulatory approvals for novel therapies.

The one day event was CME accredited and was attended by approximately 200 delegates.

The Forum covered the latest updates in the field of Multiple Sclerosis, starting with the latest diagnostic techniques to the on-going research in genetics and stem cells. The meeting also focused on current disease management guidelines and the increasing role of oral therapies in the treatment algorithm for Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis.

The scientific evidence was shared with the audience by some of the leading experts in MS, such as Prof. Bassem Yammout from Lebanon and Prof. Peter Rieckmann from Germany.
